Menongue - Three Angolan citizens were arrested by the Criminal Investigation Service, in the municipality of Mavinga, province of Cuando Cubango, for illegal diamond mining and trafficking of minerals, ANGOP learned this Tuesday.
The accused were caught mining for diamonds in this municipality, 400 kilometers from Menongue, headquarters of the province of Cuando Cubango.
Two firearms were seized from them, one being an AKM and the other a G-3, 23 shovels, six sieves, 13 hoes, a motor bomb and three bottles of butane gas.
The information was provided, this Tuesday, to the press, by the SIC spokesperson in Cuando Cubango, Francisco Calei, explaining that the arrest resulted from an operation, carried out in the towns of Sexta, Urica, Denda and Aviário, in Mavinga.
He said it was a combined action between the National Police and the Criminal Investigation Service, within the scope of combating crimes of illicit and illegal exploitation of strategic minerals, which resulted in the arrest of three national citizens and the seizure of the aforementioned means of work. .
He said that the alleged diamond explorers have already been presented to the Public Prosecutor's Office, for procedural steps. ALK/FF/ALH/DOJ
