Lubango - Two citizens, aged 54 and 74, were arrested in Lubango, Huila province, by National Police in possession of a 50-milliliter bottle of mercury.
The information was released on Tuesday, in Lubango by superintendent Pedro Cassoma Mendes, who stated that the suspects of the crime of illicit trafficking of minerals were arrested on Sunday, in the Alto da Mitcha neighborhood.
He stated that the citizens better known as “Manuel” and “Zé” were in possession of the gray substance in a glass bottle and were being sold for the value of 500,000 kwanzas, in the middle of a public road.
The superintendent stressed that the suspects presumably acquired the product through a friend who lives in the province of Cuando Cubango, and that investigations are ongoing to identify the other suspects.
On the same day, a 49-year-old man, known as “Mampache”, was arrested in the Lucrécia neighborhood, inside a guesthouse where he sold cocaine.
According to the officer, during questioning, the suspect stated that he had left Cunene to sell the drug at the Nossa Senhora do Monte Festival and that the product originated in Namibia.
According to the source, three portions of cocaine were found in the suspect’s possession, which was being sold at a price of 10,000 kwanzas each, as well as a bottle of sodium bicarbonate, which would be used to produce crack. EM/MS/TED/DOJ
