Lubango - Seven citizens, all women, aged between 26 and 43, died and another 11 were injured in a road accident that occurred Sunday, after a crash followed by the rollover of a cargo vehicle, on 105 National Road.
The disaster happened at around 3:10 am, on the bridge over the Hoque river, in the municipality of Lubango, Huíla province.
According to the acting spokesperson for the National Police (PN) in Huíla, José Nongava, it was a heavy goods vehicle, Mitsubishi brand, Fuso model, which was leaving Caluquembe for the Mutundo Informal Market, with agricultural products and It also carried, on top of the cargo, some passengers.
For the spokesperson, the reason for the accident was the poor technical condition of the car, which was traveling at excessive speed, crashing and the driver was unable to control it.
The driver, who survived the accident, is in custody.
He announced that the injured were taken to the Lubango Central Hospital “Dr. António Agostinho Neto”, and the fatal victims are at health unit morgue.
José Nongava highlighted that the PN will keep working on the aforementioned process and subsequently forward it to the competent authorities.
He appealed to road users to respect the speed limits in and outside the localities, to observe vehicle maintenance times and the rules of the highway code to avoid accidents. MS/MS/CF/DOJ
