Huambo - At least 10 people, including children and adults, died on Monday after the landslide of an artisanal gold mine in Ucuma municipality, in central Huambo province, ANGOP has learnt.
According to the Civil Protection and Firefighters Service, at least three people have been rescued.
Rescue operation continues to be done to locate presumed bodies, taking into account that at the time of the landslide, nearly 20 people were in the mine, located in the Calilongue sector, specifically on the Mbunji-Cassenham River.
The Civil Protection and Fire Service said they intend to update at any moment, since the figures disclosed so far are just preliminary.
This is the first case of its kind to occur this year in Huambo province, which has a wealth of agricultural, livestock, ecological and mining potential. ALH/DAN
