Dundo – The deputies of the 8th Committee of the National Assembly are since Monday assessing the social situation in eastern Lunda-Norte, with an emphasis on issues related to children's rights, juvenile justice and birth registration.
According to the commission's coordinator, João Segunda Ungaji, the deputies expect to learn more about social assistance and action, gender equality, compliance with the 11 children's commitments, with emphasis on the rights to education, health, the "Kwenda" social cash transfer program and the fight against poverty.
Segunda said that the MPs want to know if there is infrastructure in the province for the reception of vulnerable people, minors in conflict with the law, as well as the physical and financial implementation of the social projects included in the Comprehensive Municipal Intervention Plan (PIIM).
To this end, MPs are holding meetings with municipal administrators, heads of the offices of the provincial delegation for Justice and Human Rights and for Social Action and Gender Equality, as well as visiting some public institutions locally. HD/TED/AMP
