Lubango - The Catholic priest Maurício Capembe on Thursday in Lubango city, defended the need for women to be better valued, including them in actions aimed at restoring moral values in society.
Speaking at the 122nd edition of the Feasts of Our Lady of the Mount, the Patroness of Lubango, running under the motto ‘Mother of the Mount, support us on the synodal journey’, the religious leader emphasized that women enjoy a wider circle of influence through education than men.
He explained that an educated woman is more likely to guide her children, having an impact on society.
‘Among men, there are those who discriminate against women, some who are vicious, often practice domestic violence, leave the responsibility for the children solely to the mother, which is regrettable,’ he said.
He also emphasized that thinking, being together and acting together are fundamental for spiritual edification, as they are for family and social progress. Families and societies do not move forward when they are marked by selfness.
The sanctuary of Nossa Sra do Monte is located at the top of the Serra da Chela, it is an important religious symbol of the region and a destination for many pilgrimages.
Its original construction dates back to 1902, when, still unfinished, it was inaugurated with the crowd celebration.BP/MS/DAN/AMP
