Saurimo - The archbishop of the archdiocese of Saurimo, Dom José Manuel Imbamba, called Friday for the continued promotion of meritocracy in public and private institutions, in order to improve the quality of services to the population.
Speaking at the opening of the 1st Regional Assembly of Catholic Schools, as part of the jubilee year to be held in 2025, Dom José Imbamba considered it fundamental that ‘the most outstanding staff in the institutions be justly recognised’ with a view to promoting quality and efficiency in the provision of services.
He called for the need to raise citizenship, patriotism and humanisation in the institutions, with a view to consolidating citizens' trust in the institutions.
He also reiterated the Catholic Church's commitment to continue supporting the government in the religious and academic formation of citizens, within the scope of its social responsibilities.
Church leader assured that the religious institution is working to expand Catholic schools in remote areas, so that citizens in rural areas, in a joint effort with the government, can have free access to education.
The archdiocese of Saurimo controls 11 schools. Nine in Saurimo and one each in the municipalities of Cacolo and Dala, where 9,571 pupils were enrolled this school year, with 172 teachers.
