Luanda - The presidential decree approving a 25 percent salary increase of the base 100 indices for civil servants and employees was published in the Official Gazette on Thursday.
According to the decree, the measure aims to restore the purchasing power of civil servants and administrative agents, and is essential to strengthen their dignity and ensure a continuous improvement in the quality of public services provided to citizens, in accordance with the Roadmap for the Implementation of the New Remuneration Architecture of the Public Administration (RINAR).
In this context, Article 1 approves the nominal increase of the basic 100 indexes of the following positions and employees in the public service: 25 percent increase in the basic salary of state executive officers, 24 percent increase in the amount referred to the basic 100 index of the basic salary, rising to 54,834 kwanzas and 83 cents, for the group of technical employees.
A 25 percent increase in the basic salary index 100 amount to 22,249 and 38 cents was approved for the non-technical staff group.
A 25 percent increase in the basic salary index 100 to 493,714 kwanzas and 25 cents was approved for the group of senior officers of the Angolan Armed Forces, the National Police and executive bodies of the Ministry of the Interior.
It also approved a 25 percent increase in the basic salary index of 100, to 19,742 kwanzas and 93 cents, for the other ranks and positions in the National Police, the Angolan Armed Forces and the executive bodies of the Ministry of the Interior.
The decree authorizing the President of the Republic to legislate on the general principles that would allow the civil service salary to be updated was approved by the National Assembly in January 2025 with 180 votes in favor, none against and no abstentions.
The adjustment was scheduled to begin in January, but was postponed until March, with the Ministry of Public Administration, Labor and Social Security ensuring that the adjustment was backdated to January and February. ANM/SEC/DAN/AMP
