Luanda - The docking of cruise ships in the country is a form of advertising and attracts other cruise companies to choose Angola as part of their route, the director of TravelGest José Cabral said today, in Luanda.

According to the expert, there are more and more cruise ships wanting to pass through Angola and tourists intending to return via other routes, to get to know the country better.

The statements were made to the press regarding the docking of the cruise ship “Cristal Serenty”, under the responsibility of TravelGest, the company in charge of bringing tourists to Angola.

Tourism brings benefits to the country, due to high logistics, involvement of services such as tourist guides, transport, restaurants and marketing of several products to tourists, he highlighted.

Since the arrival of the cruise ship at the Port of Luanda, he explained, some tourists started visiting places such as Fortress of São Miguel, Dr. António Agostinho Neto Memorial and went on to the Slavery Museum, Craft Square, Miradouro da Lua (Moon Viewpoint) and Barra do Kwanza.

Others visited various monuments within the capital city and, therefore, returned to the ship in the morning.

On the occasion, the representative of the company “Cristal Serenty”, Fernando Barroso, explained that from Luanda, the vessel will continue to São Tomé and Príncipe, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Senegal, Spanish Canary Islands, Funchal (Portugal), Puerto Rico and Miami (United States of America), where the cruise will end.

He highlighted that the trip began with 450 tourists, but due to the change of route, due to drone attacks on ships in the Red Sea, many preferred to abandon midway, as they intended to pass through the Mediterranean Sea, bound for Egypt, Turkey, among other countries in the region.

The cruise ship “Cristal Serenty”, from Namibia, docked on Friday (10) at the Port of Namibe, with 240 tourists, including North Americans, Brazilians, Chileans, Canadians, Portuguese and Swiss.
