Luena- Vocational centers in Moxico have registered an increase in the number of women enrolled for the 2024 training cycle, ANGOP has learnt.
According to the head of the National Institute of Employment and Professional Training (INEFOP), Cahilo Mupila, the increase in the number of women in professional courses is of around 70% compared to previous years.
Electricity, blacksmithing and bricklaying courses are the most popular among women, Mupila said, stating that “prejudice and stigma are disappearing among women”.
He stated that 4,000 young people are enrolled in the current training cycle, in 21 specialties, including electricity, carpentry, air conditioning, IT, accounting, cooking and others.
Cahilo Mupila recalled that vocational training is important to guarantee financial stability through the creation of self-employment.
Moxico governor, Ernesto Muangala, called for dissemination of the importance of vocational training, considering it an important tool for the empowerment of young people, especially the female fringe.
Moxico has around over 1million inhabitants, according to data from the National Statistics Institute (INE), half of them young people.
