Mbanza-Kongo – The road traffic between the municipalities of Kindege and Nzeto, in the province of Zaire, has been suspended since the weekend, due to damages of the heavy rain in the town of Kimakuku.
The aforementioned hydraulic crossing built more than two decades ago was destroyed due to the heavy rains that hit this recently created municipality, within the scope of the country's new Political-Administrative Division.
The governor of Zaire, Adriano Mendes de Carvalho, who a few days ago noted the damage caused by rain on this section of approximately 120 km, said that everything is being done to restore circulation between the two municipalities.
According to the governor, along the route of this road, which has been undergoing deforestation works since last year Nov, other situations may arise due to the time it has been left without intervention.
He said that after the deforestation, earthmoving work will follow and will go to the village of Quimaria, bordering the municipality of Bembe, province of Uíge.
Adriano Mendes de Carvalho asked the population to remain calm as the situation was solved.
For contractor Gomes Gabriel, from the company TEA, equipment and materials have already begun to be mobilized on site for an urgent intervention.
With an estimated population of more than 10 thousand inhabitants, the municipality of Kindege is potentially agricultural, with cassava, peanuts, banana, beans, corn, yam potatoes and citrus fruits being the most produced products. J.L/CF/DOJ
