Uíge - A regional conference for public consultation on Angolan Onomastics is taking place since Monday, Jan 13, in the city of Uíge, in an initiative of the provincial department of justice and Human rights.
The meeting, which runs until Friday, Jan 17, in the capital of the province of Uíge, brings together court officials from the provinces of Uíge, Malanje, Cuanza-Norte, Bengo and Zaire.
The meeting is being guided by consultants for the drafting of Angolan Names Directory.
At the opening of the meeting, the Uíge's delegate for Justice and Human Rights, Verónica Mbala Lima, stressed the importance of the event, justifying bringing the Angolan onomastic list a valuable instrument for cataloging the ideologies and transformations of new groups, thus contributing for the preservation of the Angolan culture historical names.
When speaking at the event, the consultant Lupene Almeida said that the names list aims to respond to the demand regarding the attribution of forenames, both admissible and inadmissible.
Often, parents want to give their child a name, but find difficulties on the part of the technicians from the Justice delegation", he said.
