Mbanza Kongo - The Mbanza Kongo municipality in the northern province of Zaire, will carry out a total of 50 social impact projects to combat poverty in the region as part of the Integrated Program for Local Development and Poverty Reduction (PIDLCP).
The proposal for the implementation of these actions in the fields of education, health, agriculture, transport and basic sanitation, among others, was discussed and approved during the first ordinary meeting of the Municipal Community Consultation Council held in Mbanza Kongo.
According to the final communiqué of the meeting, to which ANGOP had access on Friday, during the meeting, issues related to the redevelopment of commerce in the city, road mobility and the reopening of the Nkunga a Paza bus station were discussed.
The revitalization of the agriculture and fisheries sectors, the empowerment of women, and the extension of the potable water supply network to the outskirts of the city were among the issues discussed at the meeting.
It also recommended the purchase of 65 blackboards to be installed in schools in remote areas, as well as sports equipment and three public lighting kits for health units in some municipalities.
The need to create mechanisms to guarantee public transportation for students who study far from the Mbanza Kongo town was also one of the points discussed at this first meeting of the Municipal Community Consultative Council. DMN/JL/AMP
