Malanje - A 42-year-old Vietnamese citizen was arrested on Saturday, in northern Malanje by the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC), for imprisoning and beating a domestic worker until she fainted, for allegedly stealing 600,000 kwanzas.
The crime occurred when the maid was cleaning the residence and was attacked by her boss, who insulted her, accusing her of stealing the money from her room.
The Vietnamese citizen struck the maid several times in the head and stomach and then locked her in the house's storage room for several hours, the head of the SIC's Press Office, chief inspector Augusto Barros André has said.
The SIC has said it condemns justice by own hands and urged the population to refrain from this type of practice, letting related institutions intervene.
The detainee will be sent to the Public Prosecutor's Office for due legal procedures.
