Menongue – At least 23 households totaling 115 people have been left homeless in the municipality of Dirico, eastern Cuando Cubango province as a result of the rain that poured in the region in the last 24 hours.
At least seven houses have been totally destroyed and seven partially destroyed in that bordering municipality with Namibia.
The rain also caused serious injuries to a two-year-old child and minor injuries to a 59-year-old woman, both from the same family after the roof of the house collapsed.
Speaking to ANGOP, the local Civil Protection and Fire Service spokesperson, Albano Cutarica, said the families affected have been advised to take temporary shelter with relatives or neighbors, while injured people have been evacuated to the hospital, where they are receiving medical assistance and medication.ALK/FF/PLB/DAN/AMP
