Dundo – About 600 people have been displaced in various locations in eastern Lunda Norte province as a result of the partial and total destruction of 129 residences, caused by the rains that have poured in the last four months in the region, ANGOP has learnt.
The spokesman for the Civil Protection and Fire Service, Mauricio Elalo, said that the families lived in areas considered at risk, adding that they already receive support from the municipal administrations to rebuild their homes in safe places.
During this period, Elalo said, 20 people died as a result of the rains, having advised the population to opt for prevention, avoiding the construction of disorganized houses in areas of risk to safeguard their lives.
He also advised the population to avoid large concentrations in rivers, especially at this stage when there is heavy rain to avoid drowning.
