Cabinda – Chevron's general director in Angola, Billy Lacobie, on Monday, in the city of Cabinda, reaffirmed that the oil company will continue to implement projects with social and economic impact for the development of this northernmost region of the country.
Speaking to the press, following an audience granted to him by the provincial governor, Suzana de Abreu, Billy Lacobie assured that his company is available to continue financial projects linked to the education, health, electrical energy, environment and agriculture sectors, within the scope of the social responsibility of this North American multinational.
The oil company which is operating in the region for around 70 years, has been one of the provincial government's main partners in resolving some problems that still afflict the population, especially in the electricity sector, with the regular supply of gas to the Thermal Power Plant's turbines of Malembo that serves the city of Cabinda and surrounding areas.
At the time, Cabinda provincial governor Suzana de Abreu, signed a partnership of the government with Chevron and other oil companies that operate in the region to improve the living conditions of local inhabitants.
She highlighted the rehabilitation and re-equipment by the oil company of the 1º de Maio maternity ward, which in the coming days will once again open its doors to the public.
Available data indicate that around USD 250 million have been invested in the last 25 years by Chevron in community projects in this part of the national territory. ING/JL/MRA/DOJ
