Luena - Benguela Railway (CFB) reestablished, on Friday, the circulation of trains on the Cuito-Luau route, with an increase of two carriages.

The railway company had interrupted the train circulation, for a period of two days, on this route, for upgrade matters, with a view to adding two new carriages with 62 seats each.

According to a CFB source contacted by ANGOP, with this increase, the train that runs on the Cuito – Luena-Luau route and vice-versa, now has five carriages, increasing the number of seats available to 310, compared to the previous 186 per trip.

The source confirmed the arrival, on Friday, Jan 11, of two trains in Luena, coming from the cities of Huambo and Cuito (Bié), and the journey to the municipality of Luau, province of Moxico–Leste, is scheduled for Saturday.

In the opposite direction, a passenger train left Luena for the province of Huambo.

In addition to these, the CFB has a special passenger train on the Lobito (Benguela) – Luena (Moxico) route, with a weekly frequency.

The train is the most used means of transport for transporting people and goods between the Angola's Center and East regions, with a line of more than a thousand kilometers, connecting the provinces of Benguela, Huambo, Bié, Moxico and Moxico-Leste.

Data indicates that back in 2024, this railway company handled more than a million passengers on this route. TC/HD/CF/DOJ
