Cuito - The Secretary of State for Education for Pre-school and Primary Education, Francisco Pacheco, on Friday called on for people’s active participation to the General Census of Population and Housing/2024, which starts on July 19.
Francisco Pacheco was speaking in the city of Cuito, Bié province, during a clarification session of the Census promoted by the Government for local members of civil society.
The official also urged the media to continue to play their role in training and informing Angolan public opinion, clarifying to citizens the importance of this event, in order to achieve the objectives advocated by the Government.
The Secretary of State stressed that the General Census of Population and Housing allows the Executive to successfully materialize public policies in the areas of education, health, economy, energy, water, roads, agriculture, industry, commerce, among others.
During the session, the participants addressed subjects such as the concept of the Census, objectives, history of the Census in Angola, importance, census moment, communication, what is expected from the media, results, among other topics.
They were present at the meeting with members of churches, traditional authorities, members of the Angolan Armed Forces, Ministry of the Interior, teachers, analysts, commentators and journalists.
The event was also attended by the vice-governor for the Technical and Infrastructure sector of the province of Bié, Edgar Hilário.
Bié will have 5,423 field agents, including enumerators, supervisors, administrative assistants and technicians.
The General Census of Population and Housing starts on July 19, throughout the country.
Angola carried out the last population and housing census in 2014, in which the province of Bié recorded one million 455,255 inhabitants. JEC/PLB/DOJ
