Luena - The General Secretary of the Angolan Women's Organization (OMA), Joana Tomás, called on Monday, in the province of Moxico, for greater participation of citizens in the General Population Census, to take place from the 19th of this month across the country.
Speaking to the press, as part of a three-day working day in Moxico, she reiterated that the census process aims to measure the number of population that has it, an important indicator that could contribute to improving the development of government policies.
"Let's all help the census takers who will help count how many we are and where we are", said Joana Tomás.
The 1st General Population and Housing Census carried out in Angola, in the post-independence period, took place back in May 2014, which found the existence of 25.789.024 inhabitants, of which 6.945.386 lived in the capital Luanda, by the way, the province that is home to the majority of the population.
This Census also showed that the majority of the Angolan population was made up of 13.289.983 women and 12.499.041 men.
