Ondjiva- Three thousand and 538 technicians, including assistants, supervisors and census takers, will operate the General Population and Housing Census (Census/2024) in the province of Cunene, scheduled to begin on July 19th.
The information is contained in the report on the preparation of the 2024 Census, which ANGOP had access to on Thursday, highlighting that the personnel to be recruited include two thousand and 611 census takers, 473 supervisors, 320 local technical assistants, 100 computer technicians, 20 community assistants, seven logisticians, six municipal assistants and one provincial.
The testing process for the selection of census takers and supervisors is currently underway.
As for the work areas, verification of possible omissions that may have been made during data collection to create missing village sections and synchronize all information is ongoing.
The province's cartographic process has a forecast of 3,550 sections, of which 2,342 were updated.
The report clarifies that due to the dispersion of populations, mainly in rural areas, they need adequate means to reach areas that are difficult to access, but specifically in the municipalities of Curoca, Cuvelai and Namacunde.
Under the motto “Together we count for Angola”, the third General Population and Housing Census will begin on the 19th of July for a period of 30 days, and is based on the collection, compilation, evaluation, analysis, publication and dissemination of demographic and socioeconomic data of all people.
In the last census, carried out in 2014, 25 million 789 thousand and 24 inhabitants were registered in the country, of which 12 million 499 thousand and 41 were male (48% of the total resident population) and 13 million 289 thousand and 983 were female. (52% of the total resident population).
