Saurimo - The Catoca Mining Society launched this Friday in Saurimo, Lunda Sul Province, a national journalism prize, with a view to recognising the merit of media professionals.
The Catoca director-general, Benedito Paulo Manuel said that the prize will begin in 2023, it will be held annually and shall reward professionals in several categories.
Without giving further details, he said that the prize would cover all Angolan journalists, but apart from that, there would be a category that would only reward professionals from the eastern region (Lunda Sul, Lunda Norte and Moxico).
The occasion served for the Catoca Mining Society to deliver work equipment, including computers, tablets, recorders, cameras, drones and office furniture to public and private media outlets.
The offer is part of the International Day of Journalists, celebrated on Thursday (8 September).
These are means that will help improve the services provided in the provincial directorates of the Angola Press Agency (ANGOP), Edições de Novembro, Angola Public Television (TPA), Angola National Radio station (RNA), Radio Eclésia and the Provincial Media Office.
For the acting director of the Provincial Media Office, Lara Kalupeteca, the means will help to improve the working conditions of the professionals.
