Menongue - The eastern provinces of Cuando and Cubango registered 201 cases of domestic violence in 2024, compared to 303 the previous year, the head of the local family counseling center of the Ministry of Social Action, Family and Gender Equality, Maria Cambinda, announced on Thursday.
According to Maria Cambinda, the decrease is due to lectures held in municipalities, military and police units, schools and churches, as well as round tables on gender approaches and meetings with men and women from different social classes.
The official added that of the cases registered, 69 were successfully resolved, 20 ended in the separation of couples, 2 were sent to the Judicial Police for physical aggression, while 12 were sent to the Attorney General's Office for failure to provide food for minors.
Maria Cambinda pointed out that family abandonment and psychological violence are among the most common cases registered in these two regions.
