Luanda - The Angolan-Swiss Chamber of Commerce on Friday in Luanda made available nine million kwanzas to support the Santa Isabel Children's Home charity project.
According to the president of the association, Carlos Magalhães, the sum, which is the result of support from companies belonging to the council, will be used to buy school materials and other essential goods to support the 180 needy children at the foster home.
The official, who was speaking at the opening of the first Charity Gala Dinner, held by the Angola-Switzerland Chamber of Commerce, said sustainable economic development must go hand in hand with social projects to strengthen business relations between the two countries.
“The Charity Gala Dinner is a clear expression of this commitment and an opportunity to join forces for a common goal,” Carlos Magalhães said, adding that supporting the home, “is not just contributing financially, but investing in Angola, these children will be the leaders, educators and professionals of the future”.
Angola-Switzerland Chamber of Commerce founded in 2023, is an independent, non-profit organization whose aim is to promote the interests of its members with regard to commercial relations between companies in the two countries.
The Gala Benefit Dinner was attended by leading representatives of the Swiss business community, as well as Angolan authorities and institutional partners to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries. AMC/AC/TED/AMP
