Cabinda- The health authorities in Cabinda province expect to vaccinate 13,000 animals, including dogs, cats and monkeys, during the anti-rabies vaccination campaign that began on Friday.
The information was disclosed by the head of the local veterinary department for Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Adriano Lubongo, during the opening ceremony of the anti-rabies vaccination campaign.
According to the technician, six teams are working in Cabinda's four municipalities to vaccinate as many pets as possible over the course of a month, adding that the province has more than 5,000 doses of vaccine, enough to meet demand.
Mara Quiosa, Cabinda governor, on her turn spoke of the need to continue working on preventive health, since rabies is an extremely lethal disease that naturally deserves the full attention of the authorities.
The governor said that the government’s aim with the annual campaigns is to eradicate the disease in the country in the medium term. JFC/PA/TED/AMP
