Ondjiva - The bishop of the Diocese of Ondjiva, province of Cunene, Dom Pio Hipunhati, on Sunday urged Angolan families to strive for a coexistence of more union and harmony, aiming at a full society.
Speaking of the celebrations of the ordinary jubilee of the year 2025 and the feast of the Holy Family of Nazareth, he lamented the fact that many homes live in difficult situations, characterized by conflicts, separations, polygamy and witchcraft, whose problems overshadow the beauty and dignity of families.
According to the Catholic prelate, there are many parents who live in anguish due to the lack of attention of their children, who confuse freedom with licentiousness, as well as some parents who are no longer examples of good conduct for their children.
This time, he warned leaders to make an examination of conscience, to excel in respect, understanding, conversion, penance and prayer and, above all, for reciprocal love, as the basis of family life.
Archbishop Pio Hipunhati also warned the faithful, in this jubilee period, to practice deep mercy, kindness, humility, meekness, patience, mutual understanding, forgiveness, charity, peace, gratitude and fraternal correction.
He clarified that the celebration of the ordinary jubilee marks 2025 years of the birth of Christ Jesus and the missionary action of the Catholic Church in the world.
He recalled that the jubilee is a time of personal and community conversion, of the practice of justice in the social and religious spheres, as well as of liberation.
Under the motto 'Hope does not deceive you', the mass was preceded by a procession of the faithful in some arteries of the city of Ondjiva and was witnessed by the Catholic community of the six municipalities of the província.FI/LHE/IZ/DOJ
