Luanda - Reverend Bernardo Ngunza began his duties on Sunday in Luanda Province, as bishop of the Methodist Episcopal Church of Zion, responsible for the countries of Central and Southern Africa.
The Reverend will be responsible for Angola, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Liberia, Zambia, Namibia, Mozambique and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
The bishop took office during a thanksgiving service, which was attended by the provincial governor of Luanda, Manuel Homem, and the general secretary of the Council of Christian Churches of Angola (CICA), Vladimir Agostinho.
At the time, Bernardo Ngunza said that he will work on the expansion of the gospel in Central and Southern Africa, as well as on the training of young people and children to carry out tasks for the benefit of the communities.
He highlighted as priorities the completion of the headquarters building of the Southern Africa center, located in Morro Bento in Luanda province, and the construction of the University of Sião in Angola.
In turn, Governor Manuel Homem said that the bishop would know how to represent Angolans in this great mission, as well as the church.
Meanwhile, CICA Secretary General Vladimir Agostinho stressed that the church is in good health and will contribute to the recovery of moral values in society, so that they can coexist in peace and harmony, regardless of ideological, political and religious convictions.
The bishop was elected in July of this year, at the 52nd Quadrennial General Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church, held in the United States of America. AB/OHA/MRA/DOJ
