Sumbe – The Bishop of Sumbe in Cuanza Sul Province, Dom Firmino David, defended on Sunday the need to strengthen dialogue in communities to provide them with a path to hope and well-being.
The catholic prelate who was speaking in the ordination mass of 16 deacons and the opening of the 50th anniversary jubilee related to the creation of the Diocese of Sumbe, said that it is important to have the culture of meetings, dialogue and forgiveness, both in families and institutions.
Dom Firmino David recommended the new deacons to contribute to the joy of serving with love, so that the believers have a good spirit of mission to serve communities well.
Therefore, he added that his specific work is to preach the gospel, cultivate human and christian virtues, as well as kindness, meekness, sincerity, delicacy and constant discipline.
In turn, the vice-governor for the political, social and economic sector, Emilia Tchinawalile, urged for justice, union and peace.
The ordination ceremony took place in the premises next to the Sé-Cathedral Church also known as Holy Land, under the motto “Diocese of Sumbe, united, reconciled and happy family”.
The Diocese of Sumbe was created on 10 August 1975.
The event was attended by members of the local government, MPs, representatives of several religious denominations, magistrates, Catholic believers, among others.
