Caxito - Five new priests and one deacon were ordained Sunday in Caxito, province of Bengo, during a Eucharistic celebration led by the Bishop of the Diocese of Caxito, Dom Mauricio Agostinho Camuto.
The priests were Belo Eduardo, from the parish of Santa Maria Eufrásio (Cimangola - Cacuaco) and João Bernardo, from the parish of Queen Saint Isabel of Good Hope II (Kicolo).
Also Salvador Evaristo, of the parish mission of Santa Teresinha, Seita Pedro, of the parish Queen Elizabeth (Kicolo), Ulice Benjamim of St John the Baptist Church (Cacuaco) and deacon Wadilele Tavares of São Tomé and Príncipe.
In his homily, the bishop of the Diocese of Caxito, Dom Maurício Agostinho Camuto, asked the ordained priests to place themselves at the service of Christ, the Gospel and the church, abstaining from interests other than those of building up the people of God.
The Prelate urged Christians to be an example to society in order to achieve the objectives set by the Creator.
On the day that the Catholic Church celebrates the World Day of the Poor, Bishop Maurice Camuto called on politicians to draw up feasible projects aimed at reducing poverty in society.
This is the first time that Bishop Maurice Camuto has ordained new priests in the capacity of Bishop of the Diocese of Caxito.
