Dondo - Fifty-two municipal technical assistants from the provinces of Malanje, Uíge, Cuanza-Sul and Cuanza-Norte have been participating since Friday, in Dondo, in a training session on the General Population and Housing Census (RGPH).
For 15 days, census agents will learn general notions of the census, its importance and basic principles as well as concepts and history.
The objective themes of mobilization and publicity, guiding actions, communication channels, clothing, the role of groups and technical assistants in communication and mobilization will also be discussed.
The legal basis of the census, the hiring of personnel and services, documents and census materials, among others, are also included in the scheduled contents.
At the opening of the event, the vice-governor for the Technical Sector and Infrastructures of Cuanza-Norte, Mendonça Luís, highlighted the importance of carrying out the census, the results of which, in addition to allowing a count of the country's population and housing, they will also assess the level of their social conditions.
The results of the census will also contribute to helping the Executive to better direct its public policies and improve the living conditions of the population, he said
Due to the magnitude of the event, Mendonça Luís urged participants to take greater responsibility and make better use of their knowledge.
Municipal technical assistants are the figures who will be responsible for training the field census agents who will register households and their dwellings.
The province of Cuanza-Norte will have more than a thousand technicians.
On the occasion, the head of the Provincial Department of the National Statistics Institute (INE), Alberto Gonga, reported that, at the level of the province of Cuanza-Norte, preliminary work to support the census had already been carried out, such as cartographic updating and training of provincial technical assistants.
The coordinator of the Provincial Technical Commission for the Census indicated that, based on the cartographic update, the province of Cuanza-Norte has 1,926 census sections, compared to the previous 1,400 in the 2014 census.
This census indicator, he pointed out, assumes that the number of inhabitants in the district will have grown significantly in the last 10 years.
Alberto Gonga explained that each census section in the urban area corresponds to 80 to 120 homes, whereas, in the rural area, the rate is set at between 80 and 100 homes.
This year's General Population and Housing Census in the country (2024 Census) will take place from July 19th to August 19th. EFM/IMA/IZ/DOJ
