Luanda – A total of two million and forty-six thousand, four hundred and twenty liters of fuels were seized by the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC), in Angola, during the year 2023.
These are 1,191,709 (one million, one hundred and ninety-one thousand, seven hundred and nine) liters of gasoline, 753,601 (seven hundred and fifty-three thousand, six hundred and one) liters of diesel and 101,110 (one hundred and one thousand and one hundred and tem) liters of kerosene.
According to a press release from SIC, signed by the director of the Institutional Communication and Press Office, Manuel Halaiwa, of the total, one million liters of gasoline and more than four hundred thousand liters of diesel were seized in the province of Zaire.
In the province of Cabinda, he says, 200,000 (two hundred thousand) liters of diesel and more than 150,000 (one hundred and fifty thousand) liters of gasoline were seized.
The document indicates that the seizures result from actions to prevent and combat smuggling and diversion of goods subsidized or acquired using the State, developed by SIC.
It also states that as part of several micro-operations, 492 citizens were arrested, including four (4) from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), 342 of whom were arrested for smuggling and 150 national citizens for smuggling goods.
SIC emphasizes that it remains committed to combating smuggling and diversion of subsidized goods or purchased through the State.
It should be noted that, in the months of January and February of this year, 225,731 (two hundred and twenty-five thousand, seven hundred and thirty-one) liters of various fuels were seized, of which 120,486 (one hundred and twenty thousand, four hundred and eighty-six thousand) liters of diesel and 101,215 (one hundred and one thousand, two hundred and fifteen) liters of gasoline, resulting in the arrest of 59 citizens, including six (6) from the DRC.
