Luanda - A total of 11 women have won the first edition of the National Women of Merit Award in several categories, the organisers announced Tuesday, in Luanda.
The announcement was made by the president of the jury, Rosa Cruz e Silva, who highlighted that at least 124 women from 15 provinces of the country submitted candidacies for the prize.
In the Research category, Cláudia Videira, of Huambo Province, was the winner, while in the health category the winner was the gynaecologist Francisca Paulo, from Cuanza Sul Province.
Entrepreneurship and Fishing were won by Nádia Camate, from Namibe, and Rosalina António, from Cuanza Sul.
The organisers also awarded women in the category of Agriculture, Endurance, Tourism and Environment, Culture and Art, Women and Citizenship and Blue Economy.
Rosa Cruz e Silva said the winners have projects that impact on the communities they live in and in their respective areas.
The beneficiaries will be awarded with an honourable mention, a merit diploma and 1.5million kwanzas during a gala scheduled for April 6.
The unprecedented event is an organisation of the Ministry of Social Action, Family and Promotion of Women, with the aim of honouring women who individually or collectively excel in the most diverse areas.
