Uíge - Former combatants and veterans of the country claimed, on Thursday, in the city of Uíge, for an increase in the survival pension, to minimize the costs of family expenses.
Currently, former combatants and veterans of the country receive a monthly pension of 23.000 Kz ($27,6), an amount they consider insufficient to maintain the regular sustainability of their families.
The concern of the class, without specifying the value of the pension increase, was expressed during the first consultation council, promoted by the Municipal Administration of Uíge and the Provincial Office of Former Combatants and Veterans of the Fatherland.
Speaking at the event, the director of the Provincial Office of Former Combatants and Veterans of the Fatherland of Uíge, Maria Pinto, informed that 2.971 pensioners were registered in 2023 in the province of Uíge, in a total of 4.727 registered in the database of the institution.
He justified that the causes of the reduction in the number of pensioners are non-attendance, removal of orphans over 35 years of age, former combatants under 63 years of age, duplicate re-registration, incompatible documents and others.
He also explained that the re-registration process had two phases, the first in 2020, interrupted due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and the second in 2023.
For this reason, the Provincial Office of Former Combatants, whose pensioners are former combatants, widows, orphans, companions and other people, is carrying out a new survey of pensioners whose names do not appear on the salary slips. QJ/JAR/CF/DOJ
