Luanda - The number of pensioners in Angola went from 59,261 in the second quarter of 2023 to 168,467 in the second quarter of 2024, representing an increase of 5.78 %, the Secretary of State for Labor and Social Security, Pedro Filipe, told ANGOP on Friday.
According to the Secretary of State, the number of insured people recorded a 6.19 percent increase going from 2.6 million to 2.8 million, while self-employed taxpayers rose from 27,659 to 31,84, while domestic workers increased from 8,244 to 9,490.
He said that in the last 12 months the INSS had recovered more than seven billion kwanzas in cases of coercive collection of social security debts, as part of a campaign launched in 2023 by the Ministry of Public Administration, Labor and Social Security.
"At the start of the process, we found that there were 39,000 companies with social security debts, valued at 160 billion kwanzas. So we formed teams, fine-tuned the procedures, hit the ground running and after a year we have tangible results," he said.
He added that more than 10,000 companies are well advanced in the process of settling their debts.LIN/MCN/AMP
