Luanda - Angola is considering the possibility of manufacturing Covid-19 vaccine, said the country’s minister of Finance, Vera Daves.
"We do not rule out this possibility", Vera Daves told Euronews in Paris, France, on Wednesday.
The minister spoke of the need to conduct self examination on logistical capacity of the country to accommodate and on receiving the knowledge transfer.
According to the minister, a slogan has been launched to help "reflect on the need to waive intellectual licenses (of vaccines) to ensure the relocation of the technology and knowledge to some African regions", so that, with local production, it can meet better the demand.
Vera Daves joined Presidential delegation at the Summit on Africa's economy in Paris, where Angola also backed a change in the strategy of producing drugs to combat Covid-19.
The event, which gathered dozens of African, European leaders and international political and financial organisations, defined an amount of USD 33 billion, as first financial support for African countries.
In Africa, Covid-19 claimed 126, 447 lives and 4.6 million infections.
Until Tuesday, Angola tallied a total of 31,449 cases, 685 deaths, and 26,013 recoveries.
