Luanda – Situation related to the school meals was analysed during a meeting between the minister of State for the Social Affairs Dalva Ringote and director of MCgoven Dole - Division of International Food Assistance of the External Agricultural Service of the United States (US), Lindsay Carter on Wednesday.
The Angolan Government has an ongoing School Meals Programme mainly aimed to improve the learning process of primary school students.
This is a programme jointly implemented by the ministries of Social Action, Family and Women's Promotion, Health, Agriculture and Finance, which covers thousands of primary school students throughout the country.
The School Feeding Programme, due to its complexity, is seen by Angola as a strategic instrument of the Children's Social Protection Policy.
In 2021, the country joined the School Feeding Coalition, having signed the Declaration of Commitment and pledged to updating the National School Meals Programme, whose action is underway.
Speaking to the press, Lindsay Cárter said the audience focused on school lunches and support for student children as well as the impact of the programme implemented by his organisation in the countries where it operates.
Dalva Ringote also granted audience to the Salesians priest of Don Bosco, Fr Martín Topolanski, during which, they discussed issues related to professional training.
Speaking to the press, the religious member said he had expressed some concerns such as professional training and explained to the Angolan minister about the work they have been doing with children and adolescents at risk.
He said the church has been monitoring about 700 young people, since they left the streets or shelters, specially in the process of reintegration into families and society. LIN/ART/NIC
