Luanda – The National Assembly (Angolan parliament) approved on Friday, by unanimity, the adhesion of Angola to three conventions of the International Labour Organization (ILO).
The draft-resolution was passed with 142 votes in favour, none against and no abstention, during the 7th Plenary Ordinary Meeting of the National Assembly.
In this session, the MPs approved the Convention N.102 relating to Social Security - it defines new social risks.
They also approved Convention N.187 relating to Health and Safety at Work, plus Convention N.190 regarding Violence and Harassment at Work.
In this respect, the secretary of State for International Relations, Maria Auxiliadora Ramiro, explained that by joining Convention N.102, the country intends to make sure that labour activities be carried out in a dignifying manner, also having into account the principle of social justice.
“The current move will equally stimulate economic growth and development, improve the living standard, revise the employment and sub-emplyment problem and incentivize the creation of an active policy with the aim of promoting full employment”, stressed the secretary of State.
The International Labour Organization (ILO) was founded in 1919 with the goal to promote social justice, geneder equity in employment, decent work and dignity of workers, among other aspects relating to labour rights.
