AMEx launches graduates in military science and technologyLobito - Two hundred and seventeen cadets from the Army Military Academy (AMEx), in the city of Lobito (Benguela), have completed their degree in military science and echnology, ANGOP learned on Saturday.
To this end, as students, they attended fifteen courses, including Infantry, Anti-Aircraft Defense, Military Engineering, Chemical Defense, Armaments and Ammunition.
In his closing speech, the Chief of General Staff of the Angolan Armed Forces, General Altino dos Santos, said that the institution is attentive to the internal and international situation, particularly the conflicts experienced in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
“Looking closely at its harmful economic and social consequences, we are obliged to raise the levels of preparation and adequacy of our Armed Forces, to prevent and reduce threats capable of endangering the independence, sovereignty and integrity of the homeland”, he considered.
He warned about the constant evolution and transformation of today's world, where information technologies impel man to be the true owner of these tools, which are now widely used in the fields of life, including the military.
'To this end, the higher education institutions of our country, namely the War College, Institutes and Academies, are called upon to develop their role at the level of the investigative and pedagogical structure for exhaustive explanation of the phenomena that are in the domains of the various military scenarios', he warned.
The General acknowledged that the path to achieve excellence in the training of military personnel with the desired qualification is still 'painful' and characterized by some constraints.
“While working to improve, we must continue to train, relying on the means and teaching staff available, always taking into account that one of the fundamental principles of war that experience teaches us is surprise”, he said.
For the Aviation General, it is necessary to train leaders capable of commanding and inspiring their troops, managing personnel and resources efficiently, and making decisions in combat and logistics situations.
He called on the finalists to respect the uniform, stating that this value will lead them to understand the reason for their presence in the Angolan Armed Forces.
During the closing ceremony of the course, the finalists were promoted to the rank of sub-lieutenant, received their diplomas and took the oath of allegiance to the Motherland.
The graduated personnel will be available to the National Directorate of Cadres of the FAA for distribution to Army units, according to their specialties and needs.
Cadets finish course with above-average values
The commander of the Army Military Academy, Lieutenant General José Alberto Veiga, said that students in the seventh course in military sciences and technologies, which began in 2019, finished with a score of around 70 percent.
According to the General Officer, 217 cadets finished the course, including 185 males and 32 females.
He revealed that the course was prepared with the 'possible' technical, pedagogical and human conditions, which allowed to achieve the essential objectives recommended.
'Six thousand teaching hours were completed in ten semesters', he informed.
He regretted, however, the embarrassment caused by Covid-19, which made it impossible for new candidates to enter, so, according to him, there will be no finalists in the 2025/26 academic year, a fact that will be repeated in 2027/28, due to the lengthy instruction process last year.
'We are of the opinion that the next process should start in January 2025 so that all procedures are followed', he said.
Jose Alberto Veiga expressed the conviction that the institution is contributing to the professionalization and rejuvenation of the Angolan Armed Forces.
The Academy, founded on September 9, 2009, launched the first finalists in 2013. TC/CRB/DOJ
