Luanda - The cartographic updating process at country level, as part of the preparation of the 2024 General Population and Housing Census, is at around 44 percent done.
The information was released on Friday, in Luanda, by the spokesperson for the Multisectoral Commission, Hernani Pena Luís, highlighting that the eastern provinces have a cartographic update rate above 80 percent.
He added that according to the guidelines of the Commission coordinator, by the month of March, they will be able to have all the cartographic data updated.
He said that at this time they count on 570 civilian cartographers and 151 military personnel to successfully complete this process, in order to speed up the updating process.
Speaking to the press, at the end of the meeting that reviewed the activities carried out in 2023 on the Penso Piloto and looking at what the steps will be for this year, he said that in February they will begin a massive process of disseminating information about the carrying out, on July 19th, the General Population and Housing Census.
Through public events such as theater and music, he pointed out that greater collaboration from the population will be requested.
'I deny that there is a lack of knowledge on the part of the population about the General Population and Housing Census being carried out, since the Pilot Census had a significant response rate, of approximately 90 percent', he asserted.
He assured that they are counting on the support of the national army, Churches and traditional authorities to reach areas that are difficult to access, as they have better control of the localities and intimacy with the population.
He indicated that the Pilot Census served as an exercise to 'fine-tune' the logistics and create provincial, municipal and communal commissions, and the meetings have had the participation of governors and administrators to better publicize the work. SJ/AC/DOJ
