Lobito – At least three died and two seriously injured in a road accident that took place on Sunday in the EN100 national road, in Lobito city, Benguela province, law enforcement authorities have said.
According to the National Police commander in Lobito city, Chief Superintendent Jilson Pedro, there was a collision between a truck carrying cement and a Toyota Land Cruiser, which was traveling in the south-north direction.
The collision threw the Land Cruiser vehicle over a cliff, causing deaths and injuries among its occupants.
The commander said the police are checking the scene for the possibility of another victim in the truck, as the driver was the only one visible at the time of the accident.
Heavy goods trucks in particular must not exceed 20 kilometers per hour and their vehicles must be in good technical condition, especially with regard to the brakes, in order to prevent accidents, according to road professionals who use the road. TC/CRB/TED/AMP
