Mbanza Kongo - Two people died and 34 others were injured as a result of a road accident followed by a rollover, which occurred on Monday in the municipality of Tomboco, Zaire province.
The accident happened Monday afternoon in the village of Lusualala and involved a Mitsubishi Canter van, with the registration plate LD-28-01-ES.
The spokesperson for the Zaire Provincial Delegation of the Ministry of the Interior, Sérgio Afonso, pointed to excessive speed and a lack of caution as the probable causes of this accident that occurred on national road 210, which connects the towns of Fazenda 80 and Yanda Mavata.
He added that of the 34 injured, three are in critical condition and are receiving medical assistance at the Zaire Provincial Hospital in Mbanza Kongo.
Also on Monday, another traffic accident, involving a collision with a house, in the municipality of Tomboco, resulted in the death of a citizen.
The accident occurred at around 9 am in the village of Nkembo, in the commune of Kinsimba, and involved a motorbike driven by a 27-year-old man. Excessive speed is believed to be the cause of this fatal accident. DMN/JL/TED/DOJ
