Luanda - The Ministry of Health (MINSA) registered 224 cases of cholera in the country, from the first notification on January 7th until last Sunday, according to the recent report on the epidemiological situation of the outbreak in the country, that ANGOP had access to on Monday.
According to the document, patients’ age range from 2 to 70 years, of whom 103 are men, 121 are women, with 55 patients currently hospitalized, 49 of whom are at the Cacuaco Municipal Hospital and six at the Heróis de Quifangondo General Hospital.
It states that on the 11th to 12th of January, 54 cases of cholera were reported, of which three deaths. The patients are from the municipalities of Cacuaco and Viana in the province of Luanda, as well as from the municipality of Dande in Bengo Province.
The document clarifies that 32 cases were laboratory confirmed, with 16 samples of suspected cases being processed.
It adds that of the total number of cases reported, there was a cumulative total of 18 deaths, of which 16 are in Cacuaco, one in Viana (Luanda) and one in Dande (Bengo).
