Ndalatando – Two hundred and seventy-nine cases of HIV-AIDS, with 18 deaths, were registered by the health authorities in the province of Cuanza-Norte, from January to June of this year.
Data from the report from the Fight against AIDS center in Cuanza-Norte, to which ANGOP had access today, indicate that the new chaos resulted from 18,192 tests carried out in the first half of the current year, with young people taking part.
According to the source, of the citizens identified as positive, 159 adhered to antiretroviral treatment.
Compared to the first half of 2023, he says, there was a reduction of 121 positive cases, ten fewer deaths and a decrease of 34 individuals undergoing antiretroviral therapy.
Ignorance of prevention rules and relationships with more than one partner are highlighted by authorities as the main causes of the spread of the disease in the province, which has HIV-AIDS diagnostic and treatment centers in 10 municipalities.
To reverse the situation, health authorities are focusing on promoting awareness campaigns in schools, churches, parallel markets and institutions, about prevention doctors and the risks of HIV-AIDS for human health. LJ/IMA/YD/CF/DOJ
