Saurimo - Health authorities in Angola are reinforcing preventive measures against cholera in eastern Lunda Sul province bordering the Democratic Republic of Congo, the director of the provincial health office Viegas de Almeida said Monday.
According to Almeida, the measure is essentially aimed at informing the population about the symptoms of the disease, as well as its prevention, as it is a contagious disease.
He explained that the campaign involves the traditional authorities, members of the Border Guard Police (PGF) and Migration and Foreigners Service (SME) to help the health authorities keep citizens under surveillance.
Viegas de Almeida added that the health office has been working with all the heads of health units in the region to be ready to respond to any case of the disease, having called on the population to be vigilant and to go to the medical centers at the first signs of the disease.
