Saurimo - Health authorities in Angola’s eastern Lunda-Sul province are reinforcing security measures in border areas, with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) , the local health office director Viegas de Almeida told ANGOP Tuesday.
The official added that although the province has no records of cholera cases, prevention measures are being implemented in the municipality of Muconda, with a technical team set up to work on strategies to prevent cases of the disease.
Viegas de Almeida said authorities are working to identify a location or health centre to serve as a referral hospital for possible cholera cases.
The official called on the population to observe hygiene measures, especially disinfecting and boiling water, washing hands before and after meals, among other measures.
Muconda municipality has 36,585 inhabitants scattered in 11 locations, 18 neighborhoods, 12 settlements and 28 villages.
