Sumbe – The Cuanza-Sul Department of Public Health reinforced measures aimed at preventing and monitoring cholera, through awareness campaigns and mobilization of treatment units.
The information was provided this Thursday, in the city of Sumbe, by the head of the aforementioned department, Tatiana Lunga, reiterating that the actions are part of the reinforcement of surveillance against cholera in the region.
According to Tatiana Lunga, working committees were created to raise awareness among the population about the symptoms or signs of cholera, so that they can go to the nearest health units.
She highlighted that, as it is a dangerous and contagious disease, health authorities are ensuring that all hospital units have medicines.
In case of supects of the disease in the city of Sumbe, the institution prepared specific rooms at the Hospital Geral 17 de Setembro and at Quipela.
The province of Cuanza-Sul has not registered cases of cholera for 20 years. SN/LC/OHA/CF/DOJ
