Luanda- Angola this Sunday received 128,640 doses of the Astrazeneca vaccine, a donation from the United Kingdom, as part of the Covax initiative.
In this regard, the Secretary of State for Public Health, Franco Mufinda, said that it represented another increase in the number of vaccines that Angola receives based on bilateral agreements and acquisition by the government.
Franco Mufinda added that the vaccines will serve to reinforce the vaccination process, despite still being far from the national vaccination plan.
"There is a set of efforts to vaccinate the eligible population, citizens over the age of 18, totalling 54 percent of the Angolan population," he stressed.
The official noted the opening of seven more posts in Luanda with capacity to treat 40,000 people per day, appealing to citizens to sign up to the vaccination, without forgetting the rules of biosecurity to prevent the pandemic from spreading.
