Lobito - The fourth edition of the book entitled "Natural medicine in the fight against HIV, integrative and complementary treatment", by naturopath Benjamim Sassova, was launched this Thursday simultaneously in the municipalities of Lobito and Benguela, ANGOP has learnt.
According to the author, the work, with six chapters and 165 pages, was first launched by Editora Viana on 7 July this year in Luanda, and was then taken to the provinces of Bié, Huambo and Cuanza-Sul.
Today and Friday, it is being sold in the cities of Lobito and Benguela for ten thousand kwanzas.
The naturopath explained that, in this last edition, more than two thousand copies were published and that he brought around 600 copies to Benguela province.
He said that the book is a contribution to the health sector and that it shows the way to strengthen the immune system through natural medicine, helping with hospital medication.
"There are people who think they know plants or roots that can cure HIV and abandon anti-retroviral drugs," he said.
Benjamin Sassova warned that this was a "serious mistake" and advised patients not to abandon their prescription.
Asked why he wrote the book, he said it was based on an article published in 2000 by the World Health Organisation (WHO), which said that proper nutrition can prevent the transmission of the HIV virus from mother to child.
Another situation that worries the specialist is the article published by the National Directorate for the Fight Against AIDS on 7 July this year, according to which, up until that day, Angola had registered 310,000 people infected with the HIV virus, which he considers "alarming".
Benjamim Sassova has a degree in natural medicine, a master's degree in the same subject and is currently studying for a doctorate in public health.
He also said he owns three clinics, located in Luanda, Huambo and Bié, and has 95 workers spread across a farm growing medicinal plants, manufacturing medicines, consulting rooms and laboratories.
His aim is to travel abroad, with priority given to South Africa, Spain and Brazil, where he has already been, to continue his research and acquire more knowledge in natural medicine to help the country, based on the health professionals' motto of "Angola ever healthier".
Benjamim Sassova has already published four books, namely "Our health, Angolan natural medicine" (2019), "30 days to change your life, one day for health and longevity" (2020), "End of death by fork, mystery of food" (2021) and "Natural medicine in the fight against HIV, integrative and complementary treatment" (2024).
