Luanda – The project of training specialists in Dental Medicine, implemented five years ago in African countries, is valued at USD 3 million on the initiative of “Somus Unidade” an international philanthropic organization.

According to what was found, more than 100 experts from five African countries have already been trained by the project in Dental Medicine.

Speaking to ANGOP, on Tuesday, the chairman of the project, André Aguiar said that the initiative aims to empower specialists in dental medicine in Portuguese-speaking African countries.

On the other hand, she said that on the 30th and 31st of this month Angola would host the first international conference on dentistry in the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP), an event to be attended by 500 specialists in the field of dentistry from Portuguese-speaking African countries.

To make the initiative a reality in the country, Dr. Raimond Cohlmia, who was twice awarded the Ontario Dental Association (ODA) Best Dentist of the Year in 2004 and 2014, will give the first lecture on Friday 30 August at the National School of Public Administration (ENAP) and the second at the Hotel Continental on 31 August.

The presence of Dr. Raimond Cohlmia in Angola comes after the two lectures he granted October last year and this year in May to hundreds of dentists, researchers and medical students, including Africans, Brazilians and Europeans.

This project is part of the regular training promoted by the Somus Unidade Project with the partnership of the International League for Scientific Medical Research Elisa Gaspar, and supported by the Angolan Medical Association.

Among the topics that the CEO of the ADA will address in Luanda to more than 500 people will be “Certification and accreditation of dental materials, using specific laboratories as a way of offering quality oral health to the African population”.

Among the topics that the CEO of the American Dental Association (ADA) will address, in Luanda, to more than 500 people, are “Certification and accreditation of dental materials, using specific laboratories as a way of offering quality oral health to the African population”.

According to André Aguiar, the training aims to apply the criteria required of researchers, their alternatives and how the ADA can be an influence in Portuguese-speaking African Countries, with the motto “Modern Dental Medicine and the challenges for the future”.

The ADA is the most important global institution of dental medicine, headquartered in the State of Chicago, in the United States.

Raymond Cohlmia is the only dentist to receive the “Dentist of Highlight of the Year”. He is a renowned American doctor with extensive experience in the world of Dentistry, and is coming to Africa for the first time.

He has more than 26 years of professional experience in private practice, bringing together several distinctions of international relevance, whether within the world class of dentists in North American scientific academic institutions or elsewhere.

The specialist has extensive experience in indicating ways to obtain grants or incentives for scientific research, ways to legitimize medical scientific research at a global level, as well as guiding researchers in order to acquire the best tools for producing scientific texts.

The doctor served as Assistant Dean of Patient Services and Director of Comprehensive Care.
