Huambo - The production of medicines made in Angola through the central Huambo-based ‘Ovihemba - Laboratórios Farmacêutico, S.A’ factory is expected to begin in June 2025, ANGOP has learnt.
The information was disclosed Tuesday by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Ovihemba company, Sérgio Sousa, during a briefing on the recruitment process for future workers.
According to the manager, the factory, which is in the set up process since August this year, will have the capacity to produce 100 million tablets a year, with an investment of approximately six million US dollars.
He added that the factory will offer three types of medicines, namely Paracetamol, Coartem and Enalapril, both in tablet form.
Sérgio Sousa said the business institution was prepared to take part in the Angolan government program to fight poverty, promote employability and sustainable development.
He pointed out that the factory's standard is a World Health Organization (WHO) benchmark and that its infrastructure meets the recommended European technological processes for the production of drugs suitable for human treatment.
Medicines will begin to be produced in Huambo province from June 2025 for national distribution and export. LT/ALH/DAN/AMP
